Traditional Front Hand Butterfly Wing Mehndi Design for Full Hand

Photo by Mehndi Design Henna Collection (Unknown)
A graceful front hand mehndi design providing full hand coverage, featuring crescent motif and peacock motif. Rated as Hard, this pattern is perfect for Karva Chauth.
Full-hand designs run from the fingertips to the wrist, so allow extra time for application. Work from the wrist towards the fingers, or the other way round, so you never rest on wet paste. This pattern needs steady pressure control and fine line work, so it is best attempted after practising simpler designs.
The palm is the traditional placement for mehndi and gives the darkest stain on the body. A round mandala in the centre of the palm, often called a tikki, is one of the oldest and best-known layouts.
Application tips: Scrape the dried paste off instead of washing it, and keep the area away from water for the first 12 to 24 hours. The stain starts orange and darkens to reddish brown over 24 to 48 hours as it oxidises.
